FAQ

About dog training

What can dog training via One Happy Hound help with?

We coach pups and adult dogs on basic skills and behaviour questions — loose-lead walking, recall, impulse control, fear, reactivity, barking and overstimulation. During the intro we look at what's realistic and appropriate.

Who delivers the training?

For dog training we work with behaviourists in our network. We discuss who fits your question during the intro. Requests and follow-up always go through One Happy Hound — one clear point of contact.

Which training method do you use?

Operant conditioning and positive reinforcement (+R): your dog learns which behaviours in a clear context lead to a desired outcome. We analyse functionally where behaviour comes from, then build skills step by step.

Is puppy training available?

Yes. Puppy training can start before a pup is old enough for group day trips. We focus on socialisation, rest, daily routines and basic skills.

Where is dog training available?

Currently only in provincie Antwerpen — including Antwerpen, Kalmthout, Zandhoven, Kapellen, Brasschaat, Schoten en Mechelen. Available in Flanders — routes in Antwerp, Kalmthout and Zandhoven. For training we discuss during the intro whether your municipality is in our zone.

Does my dog have to join group day trips?

No. Dog training is a separate service. You can request coaching without booking a day trip.

What's the difference between individual training and a dog school?

Individual coaching starts from your dog, home situation and concrete question. A dog school usually runs a fixed group programme. Which approach fits depends on your goal and how your dog responds in a group.

Can you help if my dog pulls on lead or doesn't listen?

Yes. We can work on attention, relaxed walking, recall and impulse control. First we look at why the behaviour happens; then we build exercises step by step.

Can I teach my dog off-lead walking and reliable recall?

Yes. Responsible off-lead work and reliable recall are a speciality. We build this gradually, matched to your dog, environment and what is safely achievable.

What if behaviour might have a medical cause?

Behaviour change can sometimes relate to pain or a medical issue. In that case we advise consulting your vet first or in parallel.
