Steven Van Gucht
Founder · Dog behaviour & group dynamics
Animal behaviour has fascinated Steven since childhood — from a local Nature Club at age ten to his professional career today. That lens on what dogs need is the foundation of One Happy Hound: understand, respect and guide in group, at their pace.
He built international experience early. In 2007 he volunteered at one of Spain's largest dog shelters (600 dogs), focusing on rehabilitating abused and neglected greyhounds and galgos. In 2008 he worked at a wildlife rescue in Phetchaburi, Thailand.
In 2012 he spent 3.5 years in California's Bay Area, where dog behaviour became his profession. He worked daily with different dog groups and coached behaviour training at owners' homes — individually and in group. Positive reinforcement has been central ever since.
He has organised 2000+ adventurous group day trips at home and abroad. For seven years he has been building One Happy Hound in Belgium: a fixed team of walkers and group formulas growing across Flanders.
