Not every walking service is the same. From group size to insurance: check these points before you entrust your dog to a day trip.
Demand for professional dog walking is growing in Flanders. Yet the approach differs per provider. These points help you make a good choice.
1. Meet-and-greet before the first day
A serious walking service always plans a meet-and-greet: at home or on neutral ground, to discuss behaviour and expectations. No introduction beforehand? Then I would keep looking.
2. Group size and composition
Group size shapes a lot for safety and attention per dog. Ask explicitly how many dogs go at once and how they are matched on energy, size and play style. At One Happy Hound groups usually run with 6–10 social dogs — not mass groups.
3. Full day or shorter group outing?
Ask what you get for the price: full day or shorter part of the day, and whether pickup is included. At One Happy Hound: group day trips (full day) and group walks (1.5–2 hours, Greater Antwerp) — both with group and transport, not a solo neighbourhood walk.
4. Where do they walk?
Ask about the type of locations (forest, meadow, dog zones) and whether dogs may safely go off-leash where possible. Transparent photos or updates during the day are a plus.
5. Pickup zone
In urban regions, home pickup is often the biggest advantage. Ask explicitly whether your municipality falls within the zone. One Happy Hound picks up in Antwerp, Kalmthout and Zandhoven — see the service in Antwerp or plan a meet-and-greet via Regions.
6. Insurance and clear agreements
Professional walkers work with liability insurance and transparent prices. Read the terms and conditions and ask about cancellation, weather and emergencies.
Interested in day trips?
